    Description

Organization: KCMO Angels (Jackson County, MO)

Commitment: 12 months, approx. 6–8 hours per month

Location: Jackson County, Missouri (serving youth in foster care across Jackson, Clay, and Platte Counties – this posting is specific to Jackson County)

    About the Role:

Dare to Dream Mentors are caring, consistent adults who commit to walking alongside a young person in foster care. As a mentor, you’ll invest in building a positive, supportive relationship that helps a youth dream bigger, set goals, and believe in their own potential.

    What You’ll Do:

Commit to mentoring one youth in foster care for a minimum of 12 months

Spend intentional time with your mentee each month (approx. 6–8 hours) through activities like going to a game, sharing a meal, attending community events, or simply being a consistent presence

Offer encouragement, guidance, and support as your mentee sets and works toward personal, academic, and life goals. Help set goals and works towards milestones for youth to learn independence and life skills.

Participate in mentor training and ongoing check-ins with KCMO Angels staff to ensure you’re supported in your role

    Time Commitment:

    Approx. 6–8 hours per month

Flexible scheduling, based on you and your mentee’s availability

    Who We’re Looking For:

Adults 21+ who are consistent, reliable, and passionate about walking alongside youth in foster care

Good listeners, encouragers, and role models

Willing to commit to at least one year of mentoring

Volunteers must complete an application, background check, interview, and training

    The Impact:

Youth in foster care often face overwhelming challenges, but having a mentor can make all the difference. By showing up consistently, you’ll help provide stability, build trust, and empower your mentee to dream big and believe in themselves.
