    Description

    Reports to: Executive Director / Chief National Engagement Officer

    Hours: 4–6 hrs/week

    Commitment: 6–12 months

    Role Summary

    Advances domestic violence policy efforts, advocacy campaigns, and legislative engagement to support survivor safety and systemic change.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Research DV-related legislation and policy updates
    • Assist in drafting advocacy letters, briefs, and position statements
    • Support civic education workshops for survivors
    • Help organize advocacy days, civic partnerships, and town halls
    • Track policy trends impacting survivors in Illinois and nationally

    Qualifications

    • Experience in policy, advocacy, government, or civic engagement
    • Strong writing and research skills
    • Trauma-informed understanding of survivor rights and safety
    • Ability to maintain professional neutrality and confidentiality
