    Description

Peace Through Action® USA is pleased to announce volunteer opportunities for everyday people who want to do something to increase peace in their relationships and communities, and our country.

We invite you to consider the peace skills activity leader opportunity. These volunteers are everyday people who teach constructive communication and conflict resolution skills to other everyday people.

Peace Through Action has two types of peace skills activities to choose from.

Practical Peace Solutions Sessions are 30-minute-long workshops that demonstrate real-world application of constructive communication and conflict resolution skills. These workshops work best for civic and fraternal clubs, religious congregations, workplace “lunch and learns,” or groups that invite guest speakers to their regular meetings.

Essential Peace Skills Trainings are 90-minute-long intensive courses in core communication and conflict resolution skills that people can apply across social contexts. These courses work best with organizations that already offer intensive learning series (such as libraries, community colleges, religious congregations, or companies) and want additional content. Or, you could set your session and invite the public.

These activities enable everyday people to support everyday people (peer learning) in doing something for peace. You don’t need to be a subject expert in the subject you choose to deliver. Plus, you have a choice of subjects.

You may find the peace skills activity leader opportunity a natural role if you have made presentations to small groups before. But you don’t have to have public speaking or training experience. We provide scripts, PowerPoint presentations, and other resources to help all activity leaders volunteer with ease.

We welcome everyone who desires greater peace to volunteer with us. People in every part of the country can volunteer through us; our opportunities are not restricted by area.

We encourage people with lived experiences as survivors of violence and residents of communities at increased risk of violence to volunteer through us. Also, we invite people who belong to identity groups that have been historically underrepresented in volunteering to partner with us. This includes people who identify as Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color, people who identify as LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, people living in rural and Tribal areas, people experiencing or having experienced poverty, neighbors returning from incarceration, and newly arrived neighbors.

We encourage alums of AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service programs, U.S. veterans, and people with public service experience to continue their service as a Peace Through Action® USA volunteer.
