    Description

    Goal: To help an adult who is conversant in English to improve their basic reading, writing, math and sometimes digital skills. To guide the student in working towards literacy related goals in a one-to-one setting.

    Qualifications: Excellent communication skills, particularly speaking and writing, confidentiality, flexibility, patience, optimistic attitude, empathy, dependability and willingness to learn. Tutors must be 19 years of age or older.

    Training: Initial 15-hour training made up of a one-hour orientation and a 14-hour training workshop. This includes one hour for lunch each day of the training. After 30 hours of tutoring your student, you will receive your Laubach Literacy Ontario Tutor Certificate.

    Time Commitment: Approximately 4 hours per week and a time commitment of one year
