    Description

Plant Trees and Increase Biodiversity at Lake Stickney!

We're excited to invite you to volunteer with the Healthy Forest Project at Lake Stickney Community Park, 24.5-acre park that preserves vital habitat at the northern headwaters of Swamp Creek. The park contains diverse forest, wetland, stream, and open-water habitats for fish and wildlife. At this event, volunteers will install 40 understory plants to increase biodiversity and prevent weeds from establishing.

Join us on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 12 - 3 PM as we work together to restore essential habitat at Lake Stickney. We'll begin with an educational walk through the park. Restoration professionals will be on-site to answer questions about plants, restoration practices, and conservation efforts.

This is a great opportunity to connect with nature, create community, and make a positive impact on our local environment. We look forward to seeing you there!

What we are doing: We will focus on planting small trees and shrubs.

What to bring: Please wear long sleeves, long pants and sturdy, closed-toe shoes that you don't mind getting dirty or snagged on prickly plants. Bring a full water bottle and a snack. Hand tools and gloves will be provided, but you can bring your own if you wish. Remember to bring rain gear if rain is in the forecast.

Where to Park: Park in the paved lot off Manor Way.

Where to Meet: We will meet on the lawn next to the paved parking lot off Manor Way. Look for the person wearing a yellow vest.
