    EduWell Empowerment Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to empowering underserved communities through education, health & wellness, youth skills development, and community-based initiatives. Our work focuses on creating sustainable impact by strengthening access to education, promoting well-being, and supporting young people to thrive.

    As our programs and partnerships grow, we are strengthening our internal governance, compliance, and risk management systems.

    Role Overview

    EduWell Empowerment Foundation is seeking a Legal & Compliance Officer (Volunteer) to support the organization with legal oversight, regulatory compliance, and internal policy development.

    This role is ideal for a legal professional who wants to contribute meaningfully to social impact while strengthening NGO governance and accountability systems.

    Key Responsibilities

    The Legal & Compliance Officer will support EduWell by:

    • Reviewing and advising on MoUs, partnership agreements, and contracts
    • Supporting compliance with NGO regulations, CAC requirements, and donor obligations
    • Assisting with the development and review of internal policies (e.g. safeguarding, volunteer agreements, data protection, code of conduct)
    • Identifying potential legal and compliance risks and recommending mitigation strategies
    • Advising the leadership team on governance best practices
    • Supporting documentation for audits, grant applications, or donor due diligence (as needed)

    Who We’re Looking For

    This role is suitable for someone who has:

    • A background in Law, Legal Studies, or Compliance
    • Experience or interest in NGO / nonprofit law, governance, or compliance
    • Strong attention to detail and ethical judgment
    • Ability to explain legal concepts in simple, practical terms
    • Availability to commit 3–6 hours per week

    NGO experience is an advantage but not required.
