About Us
Our Vision: We envision a world in which all children have the opportunity to see themselves in the books they read and are inspired to become lifelong learners.
Our Mission: Wondermore connects Boston-area students to authors and illustrators who reflect our diverse and vibrant communities.
Our Authors-in-Schools program brings acclaimed authors and illustrators directly into Title 1 K-12 schools in greater Boston to inspire a love of books and reading. By working closely with teachers and librarians to connect the work of the author or illustrator to classroom studies, Wondermore-sponsored presentations enhance school curriculum. We prioritize diversity in the selection of our authors so students can see themselves reflected in the pages of books. Each student who attends a Wondermore presentation receives an autographed book by the author.
Impact
Research shows the positive impact of author visits and culturally representative books on students’ enjoyment of reading, test scores and sense of belonging. Wondermore surveys of the librarians and teachers with whom we partner attest to the power of our work.
