    Description

    Food Sorting Volunteer

    Sorting Procedures:

    • Produce Boxes are to be brought in between the tables with unsorted produce boxes stacked underneath.
    • Volunteers are to open boxes and sort through all produce for freshness (discard any moldy or squishy food), and by type:
      • Fruit - Apples w/Apples, Oranges w/Oranges, Mixed Fruit
      • Vegetables - Sort by type when possible (peppers, eggplant, etc…)
      • Dairy & Eggs
      • Frozen / Meat
      • Baked Goods - Separate by Sweet & Savory
      • Deli - Ready to eat foods
      • Canned Goods
      • Dry Goods
      • Beverages
    • Any questions about where to put what, volunteers should ask LEAD.
    • After the box is filled with sorted produce, stack finished boxes at the end table.
    • Stack boxes by type.

    VOLUNTEER SHOPPING - Volunteers are welcome to “shop as they sort” with the understanding that their shopping doesn’t interfere with the sorting process.
