    Job Title: Accounts Executive

    Department: Operations Department

    Location: Remote

    Employment Type: Volunteer / Unpaid position

    Commitment: 6-10 hours/week for 3–6 months

    About the role

    The Accounts Executive will be responsible for managing the organization’s day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring that all financial records are accurate, organized, and up to date. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of MSN’s financial data and supporting compliance, reporting, and audit requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of bookkeeping principles, and experience working with accounting and payment platforms.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Maintain accurate and timely records of all income, expenses, and financial adjustments.
    • Reconcile Stripe payouts with bank statements and ensure accuracy across payment platforms.
    • Support external Chartered Accountant (CA) or accounting partners with:
    • Sales Tax filings (state-wise)
    • OFAC, FinCEN, and 1099-K documentation via Stripe
    • CCPA and GDPR compliance support
    • Manage vendor and partner invoices, ensuring all payments are logged and properly categorized.
    • Prepare monthly MIS (Management Information System) reports and financial summaries.
    • Track and report event-related security deposits, including holds and releases.
    • Assist with audit preparation and maintain compliance-related financial documentation.

    Qualifications

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (equivalent to B.Com / M.Com).
    • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in bookkeeping, financial operations, or within fintech/startup environments.
    • Certifications: Pursuing or holding a CPA or CMA certification is a plus.

    Skills and Competencies

    • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Xero, FreshBooks, and Google Sheets/Excel.
    • Working knowledge of Stripe, PayPal, or Square, particularly in reconciling payouts and transaction fees.
    • Basic understanding of Sales Tax (state-level) and 1099 reporting.
    • Strong organizational and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
    • Ability to maintain accurate records for compliance, reimbursements, and audits.
    • Excellent communication and time management skills.

    Additional Information

    • Familiarity with compliance documentation (OFAC, FinCEN, CCPA, GDPR) preferred.
