    Be on-site for the full week of camp, undergo a criminal background check, adhere to the CNW Code of Conduct, Child Protection Policies and HIPAA Privacy Laws. Training/shadowing of current Camp Director will be made available.

    Description

    Purpose: To direct and coordinate all activities related to the planning, administration, and evaluation of Camp No Worries- a one-week children's cancer camp serving children diagnosed with cancer, their siblings and bereaved siblings, that takes place June 20th through 27th, 2026.

    Duties and Responsibilities: (full position description available upon request):

    • Attend scheduled Board meetings throughout the year
    • Create/update policies and procedures that affect the operation of Camp No Worries and its campers.

    Pre-Camp Planning:

    • Host camp planning meetings from January through June.
    • provide final approval on all schedules and activities taking place during the week of camp with input from the Program Director.
    • Assist with the pre-camp orientation of new volunteers (in early June) and mandatory all-volunteer training (prior to campers’ arrival).
    • Communicate with Camper Recruiter on a regular basis in the months leading up to the summer session to become familiar with numbers of campers and the paperwork they may be missing.
    • Contact families of new campers to make sure they are comfortable with application process and to answer any last minute questions about the Camp No Worries and camp week.
    • Work with Meal Team on all dietary offerings for the week of camp
    • Coordinate with Camp Ranger needs for all facility needs related to camp set-up and maintenance throughout the week.
    • Coordinate with leadership team (Camper Recruiter, Asst. Director and Volunteer Director) for campers’ cabin assignments and counselor placement within cabins.

    During Camp:

    • Uphold policies and procedures that affect the operation of Camp No Worries and its campers.
    • Assure the safety of each camper/counselor while participating in activity areas.
    • Maintain a professional, friendly and helpful attitude during all times while on-site at camp.
    • Hold daily and or nightly meetings with Camp No Worries leadership staff to evaluate how the week is going and assess any changes that need to be made
    • Communicate with CNW Medical staff throughout each day regarding campers’ medical and other needs
    • Communicate in coordination with Camper Recruiter to parent/ guardian/medical facility when camper needs to leave camp for medical/behavioral reasons.

    Post-Camp Follow-up:

    • Coordinate a post-camp wrap-up meeting to evaluate the week and opportunities for improvement
    • Attend post-camp Advisory Board wrap-up meeting after camp is complete

    The ideal candidate:

    • Has worked or volunteered with children facing unique health or personal situations for 3-5 years.
    • Demonstrates strong leadership and communication skills with attention to detail.
    • Demonstrates problem-solving abilities and experience resolving interpersonal issues that may arise.
    • Experience working in a leadership role with an organization.
    • This volunteer position requires the candidate to maintain a professional attitude while on-site at camp or while attending any camp sponsored event.
    • It is a requirement to be on-site at camp from Saturday training until after camper/families exit the following Saturday (sleep over at camp for the full week).
    • The chosen Director will undergo a Criminal Background check and must adhere to the CNW Code of Conduct, Child Protection Policies and HIPAA Privacy Laws.

    Term: 3-4 years preferred. This position is a year-round volunteer camp position. Camp No Worries takes place during the last week of June each year. 2026 dates are Saturday, June 20-27th.

    Training/shadowing of current, experienced Camp Director will be made available.
