    Description

    Fatherhood Partnership Program:

This program aims to increase father engagement by offering event opportunities for enrolled children and their dads/significant males to spend time together, build relationships, learn about community resources and take part in activities. Attendees are adults and children ages 0-5 years old.

    How volunteers can be involved:

1-2 volunteers per event would help staff with things such as: serving dinner, passing out supplies, assisting families with the crafts/activities. All events take place at the Coon Rapids Family Development Center. Volunteers would reach out a few days ahead of the events below to participate.

Fathers Reading Every Day (F.R.E.D.) events:

    • Are literacy-based events that include dinner, resource sharing, story time, and a craft activity.
    • These are scheduled for: 1/29, 3/26, 4/23, & 5/14 from 5:30-7:00 PM.

    Fabulous Fun for Fathers events:

    • Are activity nights that include dinner and a project/activity from 5:30-7:00 PM.
    • They are scheduled for 2/26 (Build box cars/drive in movie), 6/25 (Carnival).

On-going volunteer opportunities in Preschool Classrooms:

Preschool classrooms are comprised of 3–5-year-olds and 2-3 staff members. Volunteers are a positive influence for preschoolers and help the staff in a wide range of activities. Volunteers choose which center (Coon Rapids or Forest Lake) and which day(s) work best for your schedule.

    • Volunteers can help with a variety of tasks such as: reading stories, prepping crafts/activities, playing with the children inside or outside.
    • Classes run Monday-Thursday and have a variety of start/end times depending on the specific classroom (all are between the hours of 8:00-4:30).
    • Volunteers would complete paperwork prior to volunteering in classrooms and an ongoing commitment is helpful (twice monthly or more).
    • Volunteers requests must be made 1-2 weeks ahead of time to arrange classroom placement and ordering of food (if volunteering during a classroom mealtime).
