    Community Technology Officer (CTO-in-Training)

    Technology Infrastructure & Support Lead

    Organization: TechArts Empowerment Foundation

    Location: Los Angeles County (HQ + mobile sites)

    Reports To: Founder & Executive Director

    Schedule: Part-time, flexible (10–20 hours/month)

    Compensation: $25/hour

    Role Overview

    TechArts Empowerment Foundation is seeking a Community Technology Officer (CTO-in-Training) to support and strengthen the organization’s technology infrastructure across its headquarters and mobile STEAM classrooms.

    This is a hands-on, service-oriented role focused on setting up, maintaining, and improving the systems that enable staff, instructors, and students to do their work effectively. The role emphasizes reliability, documentation, and support, with opportunities for growth as TechArts’ technology needs evolve.

    This position is well suited for a university student, retiree, or community-minded technologist interested in nonprofit impact and long-term growth.

    Key Responsibilities

    Internal Infrastructure (HQ)

    • Set up and maintain laptops, desktops, printers, and basic networking
    • Manage Google Workspace accounts, permissions, and shared drives
    • Support basic cybersecurity, backups, and data organization
    • Maintain clear documentation of systems and configurations

    Mobile Classroom Infrastructure

    • Prepare and maintain laptops, tablets, robotics kits, and peripherals
    • Ensure equipment is workshop-ready for off-site programs
    • Support connectivity and setup at mobile locations
    • Track inventory and equipment condition

    Help Desk Coordination

    • Serve as the local technical point of contact
    • Coordinate with international Executive Director and Operations staff supporting help desk functions
    • Handle routine troubleshooting and escalate issues when needed
    • Create simple user guides and troubleshooting documentation

    Systems & Process Development

    • Develop and maintain SOPs for device use, setup, and support
    • Help standardize technology practices across programs and teams
    • Identify small, practical improvements to strengthen reliability over time

    Qualifications

    • Comfort with computer setup, troubleshooting, and basic networking
    • Familiarity with Google Workspace or similar platforms
    • Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and patiently
    • Organized, dependable, and service-oriented
    • Alignment with TechArts’ mission and youth-centered values
