    Description

    Volunteer Emergency Room Advocate

    The Violence Intervention & Treatment Program (VITP) works to help and empower survivors of sexual and domestic violence. We offer trauma-informed counseling and case management services to anyone who has experienced sexual violence, domestic violence, or knows someone who has.

    • We are looking for Volunteer Rape Crisis Advocates to be on call to assist in the Emergency Department during the evenings, weekends and holidays. Advocates provide emotional support, advocacy, information and assistance to individuals who present to the ED after a sexual assault or incident of domestic violence. This is an unpaid volunteer position.*

    Requirements

    Must be 18 and over

    Must Complete a free 40-hour Rape Crisis Training

    Must be able to be on call for evening, weekend and holiday shifts

    Must commit to one year with the program

    Must commit to 3 shifts per month and bi-monthly group support check ins

    Must be able to get to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center within 30 minutes of being called

    Must go through hospital clearance which includes drug screening and up to date vaccinations

    Training Dates (all are mandatory)

    Thursday, August 13th from 5:30pm-8:30pm

    Saturday, August 16th from 9am-5pm

    Sunday, August 17th from 9am-5pm

    Saturday, August 23rd from 9am-5pm

    Sunday, August 24th from 9am-5pm
