    Youth Arts Academy Student Advisory Board Manager

    The Youth Arts Academy (YAA) is a youth music studio that offers private music instruction, band and ensemble programs, school break camps, and community events primarily for youth ages 5 – 18. It operates as part of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest San Diego, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that specializes in afterschool programs and extracurricular activities for youth in the community.

    The Student Advisory Board (SAB) is a group of 8 students from grades 6 – 12. It is a program designed to allow students to become directly involved in shaping the success of the Youth Arts Academy. Board members are given the opportunity to plan and organize events, volunteer, fundraise, and communicate with YAA staff about ways to expand the program. It is also a great opportunity for students to practice leadership, teambuilding, decision-making, and conflict resolution, while fulfilling volunteer hour requirements and bolstering college and job applications.

    Job Summary:

    As manager of the Youth Arts Academy’s Student Advisory Board (SAB), you will be tasked with overseeing a group of 8 students selected from within the Youth Arts Academy to represent the studio. Your job is to delegate, provide guidance, and keep the group on track as they plan activities and events throughout the year.

    Responsibilities:

    • Oversee bimonthly board meetings.
    • Facilitate collaboration and communication between board members.
    • Assist Board President with preparing meeting agendas and presiding over meetings as needed.
    • Communicate with YAA team about meeting agendas and event planning.
    • Be familiar with YAA calendar & events.
    • Inform YAA Program Manager of any conflicts or concerns that occur within the group.
    • Volunteer for at least 3 hours total at YAA events.
