    Position Overview

    Young Mothers, Inc. is seeking an experienced and strategic Public Relations Coordinator to lead media outreach and strengthen brand visibility. This remote volunteer role requires a proactive communicator who can independently manage media relationships, support PR strategy, and increase public awareness of YMI’s mission and programs.

    The Public Relations Coordinator works directly with the Executive Director and collaborates with internal teams to elevate YMI’s public presence.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute public relations outreach strategies
    • Identify and build relationships with journalists, media outlets, and local businesses
    • Draft press releases, media pitches, and public statements
    • Maintain and manage media contact lists and press databases
    • Create and update media kits and organizational talking points
    • Support event promotion through strategic media outreach
    • Monitor media coverage and track PR metrics
    • Collaborate with social media and marketing teams to ensure aligned messaging

    Qualifications

    • 2+ years of experience in public relations, communications, marketing, or media outreach
    • Demonstrated experience pitching stories or securing media coverage
    • Strong professional writing skills (press releases, media pitches, public statements)
    • Experience building and maintaining professional relationships
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple outreach initiatives
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Comfortable representing the organization in external communications
    • Familiarity with media monitoring tools or PR databases preferred
