    Description

    Do you have a passion for mental health and want to work towards providing support and education to our community? If so, NAMI Main Line PA might be lookingfor you!

    We are seeking talented individuals to join our volunteer Board of Directors in the roles of President and Vice President.

    In this role you will have the opportunity to:

    • Play a key role in shaping the growth and future successof a nonprofit
    • Gain nonprofit governance and leadership experience
    • Help expand access to mental healthservices
    • Make a tangible difference in the community through public service

    Position Titles:Board President (Volunteer) and Vice President(Volunteer)

    Reports to: Board of Directors

    Time Commitment: 3-5 hours per week. 1 year term

    Major Function and Accountability

    The Board President and Vice President are responsible for providing leadership and management of the Affiliate in alignment with NAMI Main Line PA’s mission, vision,and values.

    Key Competencies and Responsibilities

    1. Strategic Planning
      • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to guide strategic planning toward the achievement of Affiliate goals.
      • Advocate for the NAMI mission and promote awareness of NAMI Main Line PA
      • Work with Board members to ensure the sustainability of the organization
      • Foster strong relationships with the NAMI State Organization (NSO) and NAMI National.
    2. Governance and Management
      • Oversee the Board of Directors and the operations of the Affiliate.
      • Plan and preside over meetings of the Board of Directors and the Governance Committee.
      • Ensurethat the Affiliate operates in accordance with its mission and the NAMI Standards of Excellence.
    3. Financial and Resource Development
      • Oversee the preparation of county funding applications and the annual budget. Monitor the management of the organization’s resources within budgetary guidelines
      • Approve proposals for new grant applications.
      • Collaborate with the Board to ensure continuedfinancial success.
      • Participate in cultivating good donor relations, and in the development of other sources of revenue.
      • Collaborate with the board to ensure the maintenance of a sustainable volunteer core.

    Ideal Skills:

      • Strong leadership and organizational skills
      • Experience in non-profit leadership, fundraising, governance or community engagement preferred
      • A commitment to the mission of providing free mental health services to people living with mental illness and their families.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
      • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with board members,staff, and stakeholders to advance the mission.

    We would prefer candidates live in our service area - Delaware County and Lower Merion Township in Pennsylvania.
