About Love INC of Broward
Love In the Name of Christ (INC) of Broward is part of a national movement to transform communities. Our affiliate unites and mobilizes churches, nonprofits, businesses, and individuals to work together to “love on” community members in need.
Through our Connect Center, we are a warmline that serves teens to adults by offering faith-based life coaching that helps the mind and heart while motivating individuals to develop into Christ-centered transformation. We do not proselytize but simply give words of encouragement and guidance to a more peaceful way of living.
Position summary
The Board of Directors for Love INC of Broward is the governing body legally and ethically responsible for the organization as it aligns with the national mission of Love INC and the mission given by Jesus Christ. Individual board members act in a position of trust for the company and its stakeholders, ensuring it has adequate resources to achieve its mission in a financially sound, ethical, and legal manner.
Key responsibilities
- Leadership and governance
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and executive team.
- Contribute to setting the organization's vision, mission, and long-term strategic direction.
- Review, approve, and monitor major business decisions, policies, and strategies.
- Select, evaluate, and provide support for the CEO.
- Ensure that the organization's activities and transactions advance its mission.
- Financial oversight and resource development
- Fulfill all fiduciary responsibilities by overseeing the organization's financial health.
- Faithfully read and understand the organization's financial statements, audit reports, and budgets.
- Actively engage in identifying and securing the financial resources needed to advance the mission, which may include fundraising.
- Leverage personal networks and connections to benefit the organization's financial standing and reputation.
- Legal and ethical integrity
- Ensure the organization operates within legal and ethical standards.
- Adhere to the organization's governing documents and board decisions.
- Handle sensitive organizational information with discretion.
- Identify and address potential conflicts of interest.
- Engagement and advocacy
- Act as an ambassador for the organization, promoting its mission to the community and other stakeholders.
- Attend board and committee meetings regularly, prepared to participate actively and thoughtfully.
- Serve on at least one committee.
- Represent the organization with high ethical standards, integrity, and honesty.
Required skills and qualifications
- Ministry committed: Must be a Christian that believes The Bible is the inherent Word of God and that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior; and must be a member of a local church.
- Strategic thinker: The ability to see the big Church picture and contribute to the organization's long-term vision with the understanding of 1 Corinthians 12:12-27.
- Leadership experience: Demonstrated leadership ability and experience making key decisions in a professional setting.
- Teamwork and collaboration: The capacity to work effectively with other board members and executive leadership.
- Passion for the mission: A genuine commitment to the organization's goals and purpose.
- Industry knowledge: Expertise relevant to the organization's field.
Term and commitment
The term of service is typically three years with the potential for renewal.
The time commitment includes attendance at all board and committee meetings, as well as time for review of materials and additional engagements.
Meetings are held monthly every second Monday of each month via Zoom from 7pm – 8:30pm unless designated to be in-person.
