    Role Summary

The Smile Outreach is seeking dynamic and highly organized Volunteer Program Assistants to provide essential support across our bold, youth-centered initiatives. This role is ideal for young professionals or students who are passionate about social change, education, or public health, and who want to gain practical experience in program coordination, community outreach, and nonprofit leadership.

As a Program Assistant, you will be at the heartbeat of our work—supporting implementation, documentation, logistics, and engagement for projects like the Hand-to-Mind Clubs, Voices Against Violence, and The Good Cycle Initiative. If you’re energized by systems, stories, and service—and especially if you’re a woman—this opportunity is designed for you.

    Key Responsibilities

    Program Implementation Support

    • Assist in organizing outreach sessions, club activities, and virtual/in-person events.
    • Track program deliverables (e.g., number of participants, distribution of materials, feedback forms).
    • Coordinate with field volunteers, champions, and school clubs to ensure smooth execution of programs.

    Documentation & Reporting

    • Collect, organize, and file attendance sheets, photos, feedback forms, and session notes.
    • Help compile monthly reports, outreach summaries, and field stories using provided templates.
    • Transcribe recordings or notes from debriefs and community conversations as needed.

    Communications & Engagement

    • Assist in crafting WhatsApp/Slack updates to inform volunteers and stakeholders.
    • Support youth engagement during online calls, workshops, or competitions.
    • Represent the program with professionalism and enthusiasm in community spaces.

    Logistics & Coordination

    • Help schedule meetings, training sessions, and check-ins with facilitators and state coordinators.
    • Manage calendars, reminders, and follow-up communication with field partners.
    • Organize program kits (e.g., comics, flashcards, evaluation tools) and support distribution tracking.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Currently enrolled in or graduated from a program in social sciences, public health, education, or related field.
    • 1+ year of volunteer or work experience in a community-based or youth-centered program.
    • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
    • Good verbal and written communication; fluency in English (French or local languages is a plus).
    • Basic familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Drive).
    • Ability to multitask, take initiative, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
    • A deep interest in gender justice, adolescent health, and grassroots empowerment.

    Core Competencies

    • Passion for feminist and community-led development.
    • Collaborative spirit and empathy for youth and grassroots communities.
    • Cultural sensitivity, humility, and respect for diverse voices.
    • Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within a remote working environment.

    Disclaimer

This is a volunteer role with a minimum commitment of 5–10 hours per week for a 12-month period.

Volunteers in this role may be considered for a part-time paid opportunity based on performance and funding availability.

Women are strongly encouraged to apply, as we are a 90% women-led team committed to supporting women and adolescent girls across Africa.

    What We Offer

    • Flexible remote work and a supportive team culture.
    • Opportunities to work directly with award-winning programs and passionate youth.
    • Ongoing mentorship, feedback, and capacity-building support.
    • Public recognition and references for exceptional performance.
    • Potential transition into paid roles or travel support for field engagements (where applicable).
