Through education, healthcare, and the development of valuable trade skills, the organization provides the tools needed to create sustainable and meaningful change. True Shepherd Foundation works toward fostering self-reliance and long-term opportunities for those in underserved communities.

    Role Description

    This is a volunteer Treasurer role. As Treasurer, you will serve as the organization’s financial steward, overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, cash flow, and compliance to ensure resources are managed responsibly and in alignment with the mission. Responsibilities include preparing and monitoring budgets, reviewing expenses, advising the Board on financial matters, managing bank accounts, establishing financial policies (such as check-signing authority), overseeing audits, and ensuring all legal and tax filings are completed accurately and on time.

    In addition to these duties, you will serve as an active Board member, providing strategic guidance, financial oversight, and leadership to support the foundation’s mission and long-term vision.

    Qualifications

    • Experience in finance, accounting, bookkeeping, budgeting, or financial management
    • Ability to review and understand financial statements, budgets, and cash flow reports
    • Comfort explaining financial information clearly to the Board
    • Familiarity with nonprofit financial practices, or willingness to learn
    • Understanding of financial controls and governance, including expense oversight and approvals
    • Knowledge of nonprofit compliance and tax filings (such as Form 990), or ability to work with professionals
    • Strong attention to detail and sound financial judgment
    • High standards of integrity and confidentiality
    • Ability to provide strategic financial insight for long-term planning
    • Willingness to serve as an active Board member and attend regular meetings
    • Alignment with TSF’s mission, values, and faith-based purpose

    Time Commitment

    This volunteer board position involves a commitment to attending meetings every month, typically lasting 1–2 hours each. Additional time may be required occasionally for special initiatives or committee participation.

    A 6-month check-in will be held to ensure mutual alignment, assess engagement, and provide support as needed.

    At the end of the 1-2 year term, the appointment may be renewed or redefined based on the member’s interests, contributions, and the evolving needs of True Shepherd Foundation.
