Licensed Attorneys - Probono Assistance needed for victims of child abuse

    About Us

Justice for Children is a Houston-based nonprofit dedicated to protecting children from abuse and ensuring their families have access to critical legal and support services. Many of the families we serve are in crisis, with limited financial means and urgent needs. Your help will directly support our mission.

    Overview:

Justice for Children is seeking compassionate and dedicated licensed attorneys to provide pro bono legal assistance to families in crisis. Our clients are parents or guardians striving to protect their children from abuse and neglect, but often lack the financial means to secure necessary legal representation. Your expertise can make a life-changing difference for vulnerable children and their families.

    Position Description:

Volunteer attorneys will assist clients with a range of legal matters essential to protecting children from abuse, including:

    • Filing and obtaining protective orders.
    • Initiating or finalizing divorce proceedings involving an abusive partner.
    • Establishing or modifying child custody and visitation arrangements.
    • Securing child support to ensure financial stability for the child.
    • Establishing paternity in cases involving unmarried parents.

Many of our clients contact Justice for Children during times of extreme emotional distress, often with limited access to resources or understanding of the legal process. By offering your professional support, you help reduce their fear and confusion while ensuring their child’s safety and well-being.

    Qualifications:

    • Must be a licensed attorney in good standing.
    • Experience or strong interest in family law, child advocacy, or protective services preferred.
    • Commitment to trauma-informed and client-centered advocacy.

    Commitment:

Flexible volunteer hours based on your availability and case capacity.

    Impact:

Your contribution will directly support Justice for Children’s mission to protect children from abuse and neglect by ensuring families have access to fair, effective, and compassionate legal representation.
