    Description

    Location: Remote, preferably in the Maryland, DC, and Massachusetts areas.

    The African American Diabetes Association (AADA) seeks a highly motivated and talented candidate for an Operations and Program Assistant volunteer position to support AADA in its day-to-day operations, office functions, and grant writing support. There is a tremendous opportunity to learn and demonstrate mastery in administrative and programmatic work. There is also the opportunity to access and benefit from various professional development and networking resources as AADA advances public awareness, community support, and partnerships to end health disparities and help African Americans manage and prevent diabetes.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assists in locating grant opportunities that align with AADA’s mission and vision.
    • Assists in gathering data supporting grant applications and other strategic priorities.
    • Assists in developing project goals, objectives, timelines, budgets, and sustainability.
    • Assists in the development of qualitative and quantitative evaluation measures.
    • Maintains and updates the grant database and grant filing system.
    • Assist in quality control of grant-related documentation and deadlines.
    • Assists with preparing reports for internal/external sources, answers questions, researches, and compiles information as needed.
    • Assists in the planning and overseeing of strategic events.
    • Establishes priority for the completion of work by sound time management and methodology; avoids duplication of effort.
    • Performs other related duties as required.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Associate’s Degree or three (3) years of experience in administrative support, business administration, grant writing/administration, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
    • Commitment to AADA’s mission and core values.
    • Excellent interpersonal communication skills; strong writing skills
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email).
