    Board Member for International Children’s Organization - Financial or Accounting Experience Required

    Childhood Education International (CE International) is a leading global technical assistance and consulting organization working to support the education and wellbeing of young children.

    CE International Board Members provide counsel and guidance to the CEO on global trends in early childhood education and development, and key international development areas such as education in emergencies. Although not all Board Members may be early childhood experts, they should all have a commitment to the development of young children.

    Board Members represent the organization in various settings, helping to identify partnerships and new business opportunities. They also provide leadership and oversight in areas such as strategic direction, financial sustainability, accountability, risk management, and compliance with regulations.

    We are currently seeking Board members who have experience in NGO or nonprofit financial accounting and fiscal oversight.

    This call is specifically for a person who has an interest in programs that support children worldwide, experience reading financial statements and budgets, some experience or knowledge of international development, previous work as an accountant, a CFO or a similar position. Certified accountant, preferrable but not required.

    This position is volunteer meaning there is no pay associated with this position.

    Commitment and Duties:

    • Serve a three year term
    • Attend Board meetings (4 times per year and some smaller meetings may be held from time to time on specific issues)
    • Participate actively in Finance Committee meetings.

    General Requirements:

    • Review and offer feedback on financial statements
    • Review and offer feedback on the annual budget
    • Provide insight on financial best practices
    • Assist as needed with the annual audit and the review of the 990.
    • Work with other Board and Finance Committee members to ensure a financial strategy is being followed.

    Other Duties

    Along with the full Board, participate in the acquisition of funds from corporations, foundations, or individuals, as requested.
