    Description

    **Purpose of the Role**

    The Office and Human Resource Training Specialist is responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering training and professional development programmes for staff and volunteers of Tiaki Taonga Trust Wai 262. The role ensures that all training initiatives reflect Tikanga Māori (customs, ethics) and Kaupapa Māori (principled collective values), strengthening cultural safety, capability, and professional excellence across the organisation.

    **Key Responsibilities**

    • Design and deliver induction and ongoing training programmes for staff and volunteers, integrating cultural and professional competencies.
    • Develop and maintain learning materials, manuals, and digital training tools that align with the Trust’s vision and values.
    • Coordinate internal and external training providers to support staff skill development and compliance with legal and operational standards.
    • Facilitate workshops on cultural safety, leadership, communication, and governance procedures.
    • Evaluate training outcomes and prepare reports for the CEO and Office & HR Manager on staff capability development.
    • Ensure all training activities comply with the New Zealand Employment Relations Act, Privacy Act, and Health and Safety at Work Act.
    • Promote an inclusive learning environment underpinned by manaakitanga (care), whanaungatanga (relationship-building), and kotahitanga (unity).

    **Qualifications and Experience**

    • Bachelor’s degree or relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resource Development, Education, or Organisational Training.
    • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in delivering or coordinating professional training programmes within non-profit, corporate, or government settings.
    • Understanding of adult learning principles, competency frameworks, and performance evaluation.
    • Proven ability to incorporate Tikanga Māori and Kaupapa Māori values into workplace training and education.
    • Excellent facilitation, communication, and digital literacy skills.
    • Experience using online learning platforms (e.g., Moodle, Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams).

    The Office and Human Resource Training Specialist must demonstrate a deep understanding of Tikanga Māori (customs, ethics, and values) and Kaupapa Māori (principled collective practice), fostering a culturally safe learning environment. The role promotes Te Ao Māori (the Māori world view) while ensuring accessibility and respect for people of all backgrounds and nationalities.

    **Reporting and Accountability**

    This position reports to the Office and Human Resource Manager and collaborates with the Chief Executive Officer. The Specialist is responsible for implementing the Trust’s training and development framework, maintaining training records, and contributing to workforce capability reports to the Board of Trustees.
