    Description

    Volunteer Social Media Moderator

Bay Area Adventure Gals (B.A.A.G) is a community organization hosted primarily on Facebook that is dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming space for women of all ages, backgrounds, and identities in the Bay Area to find adventures that enrich their lives and forge meaningful friendships.

Our members are encouraged to define friendship and build community in big and small ways by sharing ideas, participating in community chats, and creating events where they can connect with others in real life. From rock climbing, camping, traveling, boardgames, knitting, movie nights, wine nights, or simply putting yourself out there and making new friends, no adventure is too big or small for our members.

We have been featured in Backpacker Magazine, The San Francisco Examiner, ABC7, and worked directly with Meta to help develop their community chats feature and have 35,000 members across the Bay Area and neighboring communities.

    Why Join Our Team?

We are looking for volunteer social media moderators to help manage & develop our Facebook Forum. You’ll support the mission, help members navigate the group, and ensure the page stays inclusive, respectful, and thriving. Volunteers get to help shape the page and community mission not only by assisting with the day to day operations of the forum, but by collaborating with leadership to find creative ways to keep members engaged, improve access to the community, and help grow the community to more cities and locations.

    What You’ll Do (Just a Few Hours/Week):

    • Review posts, comments, and events for alignment with community guidelines
    • Answer member questions and help them find resources
    • Support and model community standards
    • Collaborate with BAAG leaders and fellow moderators to improve the page
    • Help track trends and create new ways for Gals to connect

It’s a 6-month volunteer role with an option to continue. Flexible hours, big impact.

What You’ll Learn (That Looks Great on a Resume Too):

    • Community moderation and digital group leadership
    • Conflict resolution and empathy-based communication
    • Social media engagement and trend analysis
    • Policy implementation and cross-team collaboration
    • Planning and supporting events and initiatives

Plus — you’ll be part of a mission-driven, heart-forward team that lifts women up.

If you love helping other women feel seen, supported, and connected, are active on social media, and want a fun and rewarding way to give back to an amazing community this volunteer opportunity is right for you.
