    Description

Senior Services programming is a bridge between our refugee/immigrant elders and mainstream society connecting elders to resources in the community and encouraging independence. The congregate mealsite is a popular program with elders as it serves to diminish social isolation while providing culturally specific nutrition.

The Meal-Site Assistant should have enthusiasm, patience and resourcefulness for working with elder refugee populations. As the program has just resumed in person congregate meals, the volunteer should be flexible and patient as the program resumes and gains momentum.

Volunteer duties include assisting staff in preparing meals, serving coffee/tea, helping to set up/clean up the community room, and assisting staff with program details as they come up. A willingness to occasionally drive to pick up food from vendors is also appreciated.

Schedule: 1-2 times per week, 10:00am-1:00pm. Currently Mondays and Tuesdays, could change to Wednesdays and Thursdays
