    Description

    Chief Communications Officer (CCO)

    About To Proudly Go Inc.

To Proudly Go Inc. is dedicated to creating safe and supportive spaces that celebrate science fiction, promote the LGBTQIA+ community, and partner with important community causes to empower and foster a kinder, better world. Through community-driven programming, fundraising events, and creative partnerships, To Proudly Go builds joyful, affirming spaces that translate fandom into real-world impact.

To Proudly Go began with a simple but powerful idea: to support the LGBTQIA+ community through donations to organizations working on queer issues that help build a better world today. We celebrate science fiction—particularly Star Trek—as storytelling that demonstrates the generosity and compassion of the human spirit and its power to create harmony, peace, and longevity. We believe in a vision of the future where everyone, regardless of their unique circumstances, can find unity and purpose, expand their knowledge, and improve the human condition.

To Proudly Go is a volunteer-operated nonprofit incorporated in New York State on March 1, 2021, with an annual operating budget of approximately $11,000.

    Our Impact

    • 195+ events fostering community, joy, and queer visibility.
    • $15,000+ donated to community-based charities.
    • Nearly 80% of spending dedicated to programs and charitable work.
    • Growing partnerships across LGBTQIA+, health, food justice, and youth empowerment sectors.
    • Inclusive, welcoming spaces for connection, creativity, and support.

These outcomes are made possible through strong volunteer leadership, thoughtful operations, and community-centered business practices.

    Position Summary

To Proudly Go Inc. is seeking a Chief Communications Officer (CCO) to serve as a member of the organization’s executive leadership team and to provide strategic oversight of all external communications, public relations, and brand stewardship functions. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Communications Officer (CCO) is responsible for shaping and safeguarding the organization’s public narrative, ensuring consistent messaging, and advancing visibility, engagement, and trust across all audiences.

    • Serve as the executive steward of the organization’s brand voice, messaging consistency, and public narrative across all platforms, audiences, and external communications.
    • Provide strategic oversight of all external communications, including social media, website content, press materials, marketing collateral, public statements, and promotional campaigns.
    • Collaborate closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Development Officer (CDO) to support fundraising initiatives, donor engagement, partnership development, and campaign messaging.
    • Oversee the development, review, and approval of press releases, media statements, and official organizational announcements in coordination with executive leadership.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, community partners, and other external stakeholders aligned with the organization’s mission and values.
    • Establish, maintain, and enforce brand, style, and graphic design guidelines to ensure consistency, accessibility, and inclusivity across all communications.
    • Provide leadership and guidance for the promotion of events, programs, and community engagement initiatives, ensuring clear, accurate, and compelling messaging.
    • Monitor, analyze, and report on communications performance metrics, including social media engagement and audience reach, and provide insights to executive leadership to inform strategy.
    • Advise the Chief Executive Officer and executive leadership on reputational considerations, sensitive communications, and emerging issues that may impact the organization.
    • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive communications culture among volunteers and contributors, modeling the organization’s values and commitment to equity and respect.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in support of the organization’s mission and operations.
