Help Fire-Impacted Community Members Navigate Transportation Technology

Pasadena Village is hosting the OnTheGo Expo, a free transportation fair designed to connect community members with solutions for getting around safely and independently. We need tech-savvy, patient, and friendly volunteers to serve the community in providing essential hands-on technical support. This year, your support is more vital than ever. Many attendees will be community members from Altadena & Pasadena impacted by the Eaton Fire.

This role is perfect for anyone who is comfortable with modern technology and passionate about helping people connect to their community.

Your Mission: Hands-On Tech Support

Volunteers will staff a dedicated Tech Support Station and help attendees navigate the digital side of transportation. We are looking for individuals who are familiar with or willing to quickly learn the following systems:

• App Setup & Basics:
  • Setting Up & Using Major Transportation Apps (Metro, Metro Micro, Pasadena Transit, Pasadena Dial-a-Ride, TAP App).
  • Assisting with Rideshare App Setup (Uber or Lyft).
• Digital Payments:
  • Connecting and setting up physical Transit Card(s) (like TAP) to a mobile device (Apple Wallet/Google Pay).
• Real-Time Travel:
  • Showing attendees how to live-track transit vehicles.
  • Teaching effective methods for looking up transit schedules and planning multi-modal trips.
• Accessibility & Fares:
  • Guiding eligible attendees through the application process for a Senior or Disability Reduced Fare TAP Card.

Training provided!

What We're Looking For

• Help in English OR Spanish
• Strong familiarity with both Apple (iOS) and Android smartphones.
• Excellent, patient communication skills; ability to explain technical steps clearly to beginners.
• A friendly, encouraging, and enthusiastic attitude.
• Reliable attendance for a full shift.
