The Mentoring program assists people struggling to become stable and independent veterans, and men and women reentering the community after incarceration. The Mentoring program recruits people who are motivated to make changes in their lives. We match them with an individual mentor who builds a relationship with the individual and serves as a support system through encouragement, personal support, and life skills guidance. Each mentor provides a broad range of support including budgeting, job preparation, decision making, emotional support, spiritual support, parenting and goal setting. As the relationship develops, the activities are determined by the mentor and the mentee. The mentoring schedule is flexible, and the mentor and mentee set their own meeting times. A Pathfinders staff member is part of the mentoring relationship, so the mentors and mentees have the support of the staff member throughout the one year mentorship. This is not a program of financial support, but rather an opportunity to provide personal support to an individual in need.
