More than 47 million individuals, including 9 million children, are food insecure in the United States. At the same time, 40% of food in the food system is WASTED!
The need for our work has never been more vital.
Food Rescue US disrupts the cycle of food waste by directing nutritious, surplus food to those in need. We leverage technology and a network of volunteers to streamline food rescue and distribution, while fostering strong community connections and ensuring easy accessibility for participants. Food Rescue US is a national organization with 45+ sites across 24+ states and DC.
Food rescuers pick-up excess food from local food donors, including grocery stores, restaurants, corporate dining facilities, and other food providers, and deliver it to local social service agencies providing for the food insecure. Rescuers use their own vehicles and select times that are convenient for them to pick-up and drop-off the excess food.
The process is quick, simple, and incredibly rewarding. Interested in getting involved? Sign up at FoodRescue.us to start today and see a complete schedule of local food rescue opportunities.
