Impact-Driven Volunteer Role: Support AFSP's Twin Cities Walk

Join the Leadership Team Behind the Twin Cities Out of the Darkness Walk

Help bring connection, healing, and hope to families affected by suicide

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention - Minnesota Chapter is seeking committed volunteers to join the planning committee for the Twin Cities Out of the Darkness Walk, one of the largest suicide prevention events in the nation. With 2,000+ participants and over $200,000 raised in 2025 alone, this event is entirely volunteer-powered.

    Why This Matters:

Every step taken during the Walk represents a story - of loss, resilience, hope, and community. By joining the planning committee, you'll help create a safe, supportive, and inspiring space for thousands of Minnesotans who have been touched by suicide.

    What You'll Do:

Depending on your interests and strengths, you can support the Walk by:

    • Connecting with local businesses to secure sponsorships
    • Supporting Walk teams and participants as they fundraise
    • Helping coordinate logistics, permitting, and event-day operations
    • Assisting with media outreach and public awareness efforts

    What You'll Gain:

    • Hands-on experience in event planning, community engagement, and leadership
    • Resume-building skills in outreach, partnership, and nonprofit operations
    • Support and mentorship from experienced committee members
    • A compassionate, mission-driven volunteer community
    • The opportunity to directly impact suicide prevention efforts in Minnesota

    Time Commitment:

2-4 hours per week (flexible) with hybrid planning meetings. Time increases as Walk Day approaches.

If you're passionate about mental health, community leadership, or meaningful service, we'd love to have you on board!

Apply here and our Walk Chair will follow up with next steps.
