    As a Proposal Writing and Presentation Specialist in a non-profit organization, you'll be responsible for securing vital funding. You'll do this by crafting compelling narratives and presentations that powerfully showcase our organization's mission, impact, and projects.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Proposal Development and Writing:
      • You'll craft persuasive grant proposals, concept notes, letters of inquiry, and other funding requests.
      • You'll research and identify potential funding opportunities (e.g., grants from government agencies, foundations, corporations, individual philanthropists) that align with our organization's mission and programs.
      • You'll translate our organization's goals, objectives, and project details into clear, concise, and compelling written content.
      • You'll develop detailed project budgets and provide strong financial justifications for your proposals.
      • You'll tailor proposals to meet the specific requirements and interests of each funder.
      • You'll maintain and update a library of proposal resources, templates, and best practices.
    • Presentation Development and Delivery:
      • You'll create engaging and visually appealing presentations (e.g., PowerPoint, digital presentations, videos) for both internal and external stakeholders.
      • You'll present proposals to potential funders, board members, and other stakeholders.
      • You'll clearly articulate our organization's mission, project plans, and desired impact to various audiences.
      • You'll adapt your presentation style and content to suit different audiences and their preferences.
    • Research and Analysis:
      • You'll conduct thorough research on potential funders, industry trends, and the target audience's needs and interests.
      • You'll gather relevant data, statistics, and success stories to support proposal claims and demonstrate our organization's impact.
      • You'll analyze potential challenges and risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
    • Collaboration and Communication:
      • You'll work closely with program staff, finance teams, and other internal stakeholders to gather necessary information and ensure proposal accuracy.
      • You'll collaborate with graphic designers to create impactful visuals for proposals and presentations.
      • You'll build and maintain positive relationships with potential funders and other stakeholders.
      • You'll respond to internal and external queries regarding proposals and funding opportunities.
    • Project Management and Organization:
      • You'll manage the proposal development and submission process from start to finish, including setting timelines and ensuring timely delivery.
      • You'll prioritize tasks and manage multiple proposals simultaneously, often under tight deadlines.
      • You'll track and report on proposal submissions and outcomes, potentially using CRM systems.
      • You'll maintain organized records of grant activities, proposals submitted, grants awarded, and reports.
    • Compliance and Quality Assurance:
      • You'll ensure strict adherence to funder guidelines and requirements, including format, length, and submission procedures.
      • You'll meticulously review and edit proposals for accuracy, clarity, grammar, and consistency.

    Essential Skills and Qualifications

    • Education: You'll typically need a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as English, Communications, Journalism, Business Administration, or Social Sciences. A Master's or Ph.D. may be preferred for research grants.
    • Experience: You should have proven experience in proposal writing, grant writing, or a similar role, preferably in the non-profit sector. A track record of successful grant applications is highly valued.
    • Writing and Editing Skills: You possess exceptional ability to write clearly, concisely, persuasively, and articulately, along with excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.
    • Communication Skills: You have strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with colleagues and engaging with potential funders, and you can present complex information in an understandable way.
    • Research and Analytical Skills: You're proficient in gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing information from various sources.
    • Attention to Detail: You are meticulous in reviewing and editing proposals to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to guidelines.
    • Project Management Skills: You're skilled at planning, organizing, and managing the proposal development process, including timelines, resources, and deadlines.
    • Time Management Skills: You're capable of prioritizing tasks, balancing workloads, and meeting tight deadlines.
    • Technical Proficiency: You're familiar with proposal management tools, document management software, and proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
    • Strategic Thinking: You have the ability to develop winning strategies that align our organization's strengths with the funder's interests.
    • Adaptability and Flexibility: You're capable of adjusting your approaches to different solicitation types, industries, and client expectations.
    • Storytelling: You possess the ability to craft compelling narratives that resonate with the audience and powerfully highlight the project's importance and impact.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher, particularly for research-heavy proposals.
    • Experience in fundraising strategy development or donor relations.
    • Familiarity with donor CRMs or grant management software.
    • Demonstrated success with large-scale or multi-year grant applications.
    • Knowledge of philanthropic trends and funding landscapes.

    Time Commitment:

    • The volunteer role requires approximately 15–20 hours per month.
    • Flexible scheduling, though proposal deadlines may occasionally require concentrated hours or rapid turnaround.

    Remote/In-Person Status:

    • This role is primarily remote, with optional in-person participation for presentations, donor meetings, or organizational events when applicable.

    • Chief Business Development Officer (CBDO) & Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
