TOUCH STONES VITA TAX VOLUNTEERS

We’re excited to announce that Touch Stones Financial Wellness, in partnership with CASH Campaign of Maryland will operate the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program beginning in January, and we’re looking for dedicated volunteers, like you, to join our team!

The VITA program is an IRS-sponsored initiative that offers free, reliable tax preparation services to low- and moderate-income individuals, persons with disabilities, and those with limited English proficiency. Through this vital service, community members can claim essential tax credits, like the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit, and retain more of their hard-earned income.

We'll serve the community at the City of Laurel, Craig A. Moe MultiService Center, 204 Ft. Meade Rd., Laurel, MD 20707.

We’re currently recruiting for the following volunteer roles:

• Greeters (In-person): Welcome clients, assist with sign-in, and guide them through the intake process. A friendly face goes a long way in making people feel comfortable. (training provided)

• Tax Preparers (In-person and Virtual): Complete tax returns (training and must pass IRS certification tests). Help families file accurately and access important credits they qualify for.

• Quality Reviewer:(In-person and Virtual) Reviews completed tax returns to ensure accuracy and confirm all eligible credits and deductions are included before filing. Like tax preparers, they must pass IRS certification tests.

Volunteer Hours

• Mondays & Wednesdays | 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM

• Saturdays | 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

This is a meaningful way to give back and directly support your community. Whether you enjoy welcoming people or working behind the scenes on tax preparation, your time and skills will make a real difference.
