    Description

    About Us

DEFEND is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to protecting children and other vulnerable people online. Our mission is to reduce online risks through education and technology to create safer digital spaces.

    Role Description

As a Concept Artist / Graphic Artist, you will work closely with project managers and developers to create visual concepts that align with the platform’s mission. You will play a key role in setting the visual direction for the platform, ensuring that it is safe, engaging, and visually appealing. This is a remote, part-time volunteer role ideal for someone with a passion for both art and online safety.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Work with project managers to understand project requirements and create concept art for developers to follow.
    • Conduct research to understand the project’s needs and develop creative ideas that support the mission of online safety.
    • Regularly meet with other DEFEND or 65square team members (on a schedule that suits your team) to brainstorm, share ideas, and develop cohesive content.
    • Ensure that all visual concepts align with DEFEND’s mission of protecting children and creating a safe social media environment.

    Qualifications

    • Background in graphic design, concept art, or a related field, with a portfolio of relevant work.
    • Ability to generate unique and visually appealing ideas that contribute to the platform’s game-like design.
    • Familiarity with design elements and principles that will guide developers in creating an engaging and safe platform.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers and other team members.
    • Interest in contributing to a project that prioritizes the protection of children and vulnerable users.
    • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively within a 2-4 hour weekly commitment.
