    ROLE DESCRIPTION

    Job Title: Board Treasurer

    Time Requirements:

    • Five full board meetings per year
    • One all-day retreat each January
    • Approximately 5 hours of additional work each month

    SUMMARY

    The Board Treasurer is a board officer position. They are responsible for financial oversight and ensuring Read Better Be Better's (RBBB) financial fidelity and regulation compliance.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Review and presents monthly financial statements at each Board meeting
    • Oversee preparation of annual budgets, financial statements, and tax reports. Stewards the budget through finance committee and Governing Board approval
    • Leads annual audit: Contracts with audit firm and then coordinates the process to review the annual audit and present to Governing Board for discussion and approval. Ensures that any adverse audit findings are addressed promptly and corrective measures taken
    • Oversee the organization's financial policies and internal controls
    • Chair the Finance Committee and provide financial guidance and insights to support strategic decision-making
    • Monitor cash flows and work to optimize the organization's financial resources
    • Ensures that appropriate financial reports (i.e., IRS form 990 and audit) are filed and available to the board in a timely manner
    • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements

    • Signs checks and manages necessary financial transactions in the event of an emergency.
    • Maintain knowledge of the organization and personal commitment to its goals and objectives
