Interns are expected to put in a minimum of 5 hours per week and be responsive to emails within 36 hours.
SUMMARY:
In this role, you will be responsible for managing and growing Save the Water™’s TikTok presence. You will support digital storytelling and public awareness efforts by creating engaging short form video content aligned with Save the Water™’s mission. This includes ideation, scripting, filming, editing, posting, and community engagement. You will also work closely with leadership, including developing scripts and content concepts for the CEO. This opportunity is ideal for individuals interested in social media, digital marketing, content creation, and nonprofit communications. This role is remote and highly flexible.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the Save the Water™ TikTok account, including posting, scheduling, and monitoring content.
- Create original TikTok content that educates, informs, and engages audiences around water conservation, environmental issues, and organizational initiatives.
- Develop short form video scripts and talking points for the CEO and other organizational leaders.
- Edit videos for TikTok using platform appropriate formats, trends, and best practices.
- Research TikTok trends, sounds, hashtags, and content styles relevant to Save the Water™’s mission and audience.
- Ensure all content aligns with Save the Water™’s brand voice, visual identity, and messaging guidelines.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team to support campaigns, initiatives, and fundraising efforts.
- Track basic performance metrics such as views, engagement, and follower growth and summarize insights for internal review.
- Engage with the TikTok community by responding to comments and messages when appropriate.
- Support cross posting or adaptation of TikTok content for other social media platforms when needed.
CONTENT CREATION AND EDITING:
- Film and edit TikTok videos from concept to final post.
- Create educational, promotional, and storytelling content including talking head videos, trends, voiceovers, and visual explainers.
- Incorporate captions, text overlays, transitions, and music to optimize engagement and accessibility.
- Assist in creating content calendars and maintaining posting consistency.
- Identify opportunities to humanize the brand through behind the scenes, day in the life, and mission driven storytelling.
RESEARCH AND STRATEGY SUPPORT:
- Stay up to date on TikTok algorithm changes, best practices, and emerging trends.
- Analyze existing TikTok content and identify opportunities to improve reach and engagement.
- Research competitor and peer nonprofit TikTok accounts to gather inspiration and strategic insights.
- Share ideas, examples, and recommendations with the Marketing team.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend virtual meetings in the EST timezone GMT minus 4 and respond to emails within 36 hours.
- Support special projects and campaigns as assigned by the Marketing team.
- Assist with coordination between content creators, leadership, and marketing stakeholders.
EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong interest in TikTok, social media, and digital content creation.
- Experience creating and editing short form videos for TikTok or similar platforms.
- Excellent written communication skills, particularly for scripting and captions.
- Creative, detail oriented, and highly organized.
- Ability to work independently, follow guidelines, and meet deadlines.
- Comfortable collaborating in a virtual team environment.
- Familiarity with TikTok editing tools or external editing software such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, or similar is a plus.
- Previous experience managing a TikTok account is a bonus but not required.
