Volunteer Role: Social Media Officer
The Social Media Officer will be responsible for strengthening our online presence and ensuring that our social media clearly reflects the full scope of our work. This includes highlighting the work of Palestinian writers and communicating our role as a language-learning initiative as two distinct but complementary areas of activity.
The volunteer will create and publish content twice a week, balancing literary content with posts that promote our language programmes, values, and activities. Content should be visually engaging, well-structured, and consistent with the organisation’s tone and mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and publish ( at least) two social media posts per week
- Create visual content using Canva (essential) and Adobe tools such as Photoshop or Illustrator (strongly preferred)
- Promote and highlight the work of Palestinian writers as literary and cultural contributions
- Produce separate content that communicates our language-learning activities, courses, or resources
- Maintain a clear and consistent visual identity across different types of content
- Write concise, engaging captions suited to different platforms
- Monitor basic engagement and adjust content where appropriate
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong working knowledge of Canva
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
- Excellent written English and a confident sense of register
- Excellent understanding of major social media platforms
- Awareness of language-learning contexts or educational initiatives
- Reliability and the ability to plan content ahead of time
- Excellent communication skills
Desirable (but not essential)
- Knowledge of Arabic (not required but preferred)
- Interest in literature, culture, or community-led projects
