    Description

    The Tualatin Historical Society Board of Directors is seeking a new President to lead our active and working board!

    The President of the Tualatin Historical Society is a key volunteer leadership position responsible for guiding the organization's mission to preserve and promote Tualatin’s local history. This role involves providing strategic direction, ensuring effective governance, and serving as the primary representative of the Society.

    Responsibilities:

    The President's duties are vital to the success and growth of the Society, and include:

    • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Society.
    • Preside over board meetings and ensure effective governance.
    • Represent the organization at community events and with partners.
    • Collaborate with board members and committees to achieve goals.
    • Support fundraising and membership growth initiatives.
    • Take proactive initiative to ensure ad hoc gaps are filled.

    Qualifications:

    To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate should possess the following:

    • Passion for local history and community engagement, with a genuine interest in preserving and promoting Tualatin’s heritage.
    • Proven leadership and organizational skills, including the ability to guide teams, manage projects, and make strategic decisions.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging diverse audiences and fostering collaboration.
    • Ability to commit 10–20 hours/month for meetings, events, and community outreach.
    • Comfort with technology and social media for basic communication and event promotion.
    • Adaptability and problem-solving skills to address unexpected challenges and fill gaps proactively.
    • Experience in nonprofit governance, fundraising, or volunteer coordination (preferred but not required).
