Hospice Volunteers Needed in the Greater Sacramento Area Locations: Sacramento, Davis, Woodland, Citrus Heights, Carmichael, Roseville, Folsom, El Dorado Hills, Rocklin, and Rancho Cordova.
Are you a compassionate, caring individual looking to make a meaningful difference?
We are seeking dedicated volunteers to provide companionship, support, and relief to hospice patients and their families in your local area. As a Hospice Volunteer, you become a valued member of the care team, helping to meet the emotional and social needs of our patients.
What You Will Do:
- Provide companionship, comfort, and a supportive presence.
- Engage in activities with patients, such as reading, playing music, or walking (as appropriate).
- Assist with light activities or simply sit by a patient's bedside so they are not alone.
- Capture and document life stories for patients and their families.
- Offer respite care to patient families and caregivers.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all Dignity Health policies and procedures.
Commitment and Flexibility:
- Visits are scheduled to work with your availability and the patient's/facility's needs.
- You will be matched with a patient or family within an acceptable distance from your home.
- We request a one-year commitment of 100 volunteer hours (approximately 2 hours per week) and attendance at a minimum of 3 volunteer meetings per year.
Requirements & Training (Provided Free of Charge): Must Complete within 90 days of Onboarding Start Date
- Successful completion of a background check and a two-step TB test.
- Completion of 8 hours of State-mandated online hospice training.
- Current California Driver's License or ID, proof of auto insurance, and availability of an operating motor vehicle.
- Compliance with all Dignity Health Employee Health screening requirements.
