    Education and Training Volunteer

    Volunteer with Biosphere Eco-Cities Canada (BECC)

    Promote sustainability and make a difference in communities across Canada

    BECC is seeking two (2) volunteers to implement a training and development program

    with the following components, under the direction of the Director of Education &

    Development:

    • Educational Webinars for volunteers
    • Orientation and skill building material for volunteers
    • Public education on Biosphere Eco-City (BEC) activities

    The BEC program engages people in sustainability through education and projects. This

    has a positive impact on the culture of a city. There are BEC initiatives in five cities:

    Ottawa, Toronto, Brampton, Edmonton and Vancouver. BECC is a registered charity

    that supports the development of BECs. Everyone in the BECC board and teams, and

    in teams in BEC cities is a volunteer. For more information, view the national site at

    Key Responsibilities of the Education & Training Team

    • Organizing and hosting webinars on topics of interest to volunteers or the public
    • Find material for orientation and onboarding and make it accessible to volunteersà
    • Liaise with other teams on education & training material available and desired
    • Coordinate development and use of education & training projects
    • Publish content from webinars as videos or reports
    • Align content with BEC values and brand

    Desired Skills and Abilities

    • Experience with online presentations
    • Familiarity with Zoom to conduct and record meetings
    • Skills in planning small projects such as webinars or educational initiatives
    • Ability to organize, synthesize and report information
    • Ability to write concisely for web posting or email communication
    • Experience with hosting online events

    Time Commitment and Contact

    • A commitment of 10-15 hours per month for six months is requested.
