About the Baby Safety Foundation
The Baby Safety Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to protecting infants and supporting caregivers through education, awareness, and collaboration focused on product safety and safe sleep. We work alongside industry, experts, and advocates to ensure families have access to clear, credible, and actionable safety information.
Role Overview
The Baby Safety Foundation is seeking engaged, mission-driven leaders to serve on its Board of Directors. Board Directors play a critical role in setting strategic direction, ensuring strong governance and financial oversight, and advancing the Foundation’s mission through leadership, advocacy, and philanthropy.
This is a volunteer position.
Key Responsibilities
Governance & Oversight
- Help set the Foundation’s strategic direction and long-term priorities
- Provide fiduciary and organizational oversight
- Determine and uphold the Foundation’s vision, mission, and goals
- Establish and approve organizational policies
Strategic Leadership
- Participate in strategic planning and goal setting
- Support direction-setting to ensure mission alignment and impact
Financial Responsibilities
- Review and approve the annual operating budget
- Monitor ongoing financial performance and sustainability
Advancement & Ambassador Role
- Promote the Foundation and its mission within personal and professional networks
- Assist in identifying and recruiting future board members and volunteer leaders
- Support fundraising efforts, including donor cultivation and engagement
Board Engagement
- Attend approximately 7 board meetings per year, including:
- 1–2 in-person meetings
- 5–6 virtual meetings
- Serve on at least one standing committee, such as:
- Nominating
- Benefit for Babies
- Fundraising
- Safe Sleep
Give or Get Commitment
Board Directors are expected to personally donate or raise a minimum of $2,500 per calendar year.
- This commitment does not include sponsorships or in-kind donations.
Ideal Candidates
- Passion for baby safety, public health, consumer education, or nonprofit impact
- Willingness to actively engage in governance, strategy, and fundraising
- Experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, policy, communications, finance, healthcare, product safety, or related fields is a plus
- Collaborative, thoughtful, and mission-driven
Time Commitment: Approximately 5–10 hours per month
Location: Primarily virtual, with limited in-person meetings
