    Volunteer Mentor – Girls Coding & Digital Skills Clubs (Ghana)

    About IT For Youth Ghana

    IT For Youth Ghana is a nonprofit organization committed to bridging the digital gender gap by empowering girls and young people with coding, digital literacy, and entrepreneurial skills. Through our Girls Coding & Digital Skills Clubs, we are creating pathways into STEM education, freelancing, and entrepreneurship for underserved communities across Ghana.

    Role Description

    We are seeking passionate female university students, graduates, or professionals to serve as volunteer trainers and mentors in our Girls Coding & Digital Skills Clubs. Volunteers will:

    • Facilitate training sessions in coding, robotics, or digital literacy.
    • Mentor girls (ages 9–18) on STEM careers, freelancing, and entrepreneurship.
    • Support teachers and schools to sustain digital clubs.
    • Inspire girls to become innovators, problem-solvers, and technology leaders.

    Time Commitment

    • Flexible, with a recommended 4–6 hours per week.
    • Roles available in person (at schools across Ghana) and virtually (for mentorship and online workshops).

    Requirements

    • Female university students, graduates, or professionals in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
    • Strong interest in mentoring and empowering young girls.
    • Teaching or facilitation experience is a plus, but not required.
    • Ability to commit to at least 3 months of volunteering.

    This volunteer opportunity spans across multiple regions in Ghana. Volunteers should be open to traveling to various locations, with support provided for accommodations and transportation. Training materials, logistical guidance, and a thorough orientation will be provided to ensure volunteers are well-prepared and can maximize their impact. This is an opportunity to not only teach but also engage in a rewarding cultural exchange, contributing directly to the future of tech for girls in Ghana.
