    Description

    Project Learn volunteers will assist instructors and provide tutoring to individuals to earn their GED or learn English as a second language.

    Volunteers will:

    • Assist instructor in virtual classroom one-on-one with students as they complete worksheets or assignments
    • Interact with students in ESOL to boost their speaking and writing skills
    • Tutor in different subject areas via Zoom or the phone, grade tests, present lessons, etc.
    • Be assisting immigrants and adults seeking their high school equivalency or learning basic reading skills and working toward citizenship or starting a business

    Volunteers should:

    • Have a high school diploma, be fluent in English, have good interpersonal skills, able to commit to one class/week with one year
    • Have an excellent command of English language in terms of speaking, reading, writing, listening, and basic knowledge of math, science, social studies, and language arts
    • Be flexible, friendly, culturally-oriented, respectful, empower students to learn, and build relationships
