Project Learn volunteers will assist instructors and provide tutoring to individuals to earn their GED or learn English as a second language.
Volunteers will:
Assist instructor in virtual classroom one-on-one with students as they complete worksheets or assignments
Interact with students in ESOL to boost their speaking and writing skills
Tutor in different subject areas via Zoom or the phone, grade tests, present lessons, etc.
Be assisting immigrants and adults seeking their high school equivalency or learning basic reading skills and working toward citizenship or starting a business
Volunteers should:
Have a high school diploma, be fluent in English, have good interpersonal skills, able to commit to one class/week with one year
Have an excellent command of English language in terms of speaking, reading, writing, listening, and basic knowledge of math, science, social studies, and language arts
Be flexible, friendly, culturally-oriented, respectful, empower students to learn, and build relationships
