    Description

Volunteer Experience & Onboarding Manager (Volunteer)

    About A&N Career Services Project

A&N Career Services Project is a career services and workforce readiness initiative supporting individuals as they navigate career transitions, build readiness, and connect with opportunity. As our work expands across locations, a strong and consistent volunteer experience is essential to building capacity and sustaining impact.

The Project is currently in its launch and growth phase. Volunteers joining at this stage will help shape the systems, experiences, and practices that define how people engage with the Project from day one.

    Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Volunteer Experience & Onboarding Manager to design, coordinate, and oversee the volunteer onboarding experience for A&N Career Services Project during a defined 12-week engagement beginning February 2026.

This role focuses on experience design and consistency. You will help ensure that volunteers across locations, including Chicago-based virtual volunteers, have a clear, supportive, and well-structured onboarding experience that enables them to contribute effectively from the start.

    Volunteer Engagement Format

This role is open to volunteers participating virtually, and all core responsibilities can be completed remotely. Collaboration will take place primarily through shared tools, documentation, and virtual meetings throughout the cohort.

An orientation will be held at the start of the cohort to welcome volunteers, provide context on the Project, and support early connection. For volunteers who are not able to attend in person in Atlanta, GA, the orientation experience will be fully adapted for virtual participation, ensuring all volunteers receive the same foundational information and onboarding support.

Some roles may include optional or role-specific in-person activities when aligned with the nature of the work. When applicable, these details will be clearly outlined in the individual position description. Location is not a factor in the contribution or the professional value of the volunteer experience.

All volunteers, regardless of location, will have access to the same onboarding materials, role expectations, mentorship opportunities, and cohort touchpoints aligned with their role.

    What You Will Do

    • Design and organize the volunteer onboarding experience for cohort-based engagement
    • Develop onboarding materials and orientation workflows used across the Project
    • Coordinate onboarding timelines and touchpoints for new volunteers
    • Support a consistent volunteer experience across hybrid and fully virtual roles
    • Oversee alignment of onboarding practices for Chicago and Atlanta-based volunteers in collaboration with local and functional leads
    • Help establish clear expectations, role clarity, and engagement norms for volunteers
    • Collaborate with the Executive Director, Program Infrastructure Manager, and other volunteer leads to ensure alignment
    • Participate virtually. Occasional and optional in-person meetings or events in the Atlanta area, as available

More than one volunteer may be selected for this role based on project needs.

You Will Be a Strong Fit If You

    • Have experience designing onboarding or engagement experiences for volunteers, staff, or cross-functional teams
    • Are comfortable working in both virtual and hybrid environments
    • Enjoy building structured, people-centered experiences
    • Are highly organized and able to manage multiple onboarding workflows
    • Have experience coordinating across locations or remote teams
    • Are self-directed and comfortable working with minimal oversight
    • Want to contribute foundational work that shapes how people experience a growing initiative

    What You Will Gain

    • Leadership-level volunteer experience shaping a multi-location onboarding model
    • Portfolio-ready work designing systems and experiences used across the Project
    • Professional references upon successful completion
    • Mentorship opportunities with experienced leaders in career services and workforce development
    • Inclusion in a growing professional network connected to A&N Career Services Project
