Role Summary
The Volunteer Coordinator helps strengthen the Conservancy’s volunteer program by welcoming new volunteers, supporting team leads, and ensuring clear communication between staff and volunteers. This person plays a key role in helping our community members find meaningful ways to contribute to the Conservancy’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the volunteer interest list and communicate upcoming opportunities.
- Help onboard new volunteers, including sharing basic training materials and connecting them with team leads.
- Check in periodically with active volunteers and collect feedback.
- Coordinate volunteer recognition and appreciation efforts (e.g., thank-you emails, photos, event shout-outs).
- Support the scheduling and organization of volunteer projects and tabling events.
- Track volunteer hours and help report participation data to staff.
- Suggest improvements to enhance the volunteer experience and retention.
Time Commitment
Approximately 8–12 hours per month.
Some flexibility for remote work; occasional attendance at events encouraged.
Skills & Qualities
- Friendly and welcoming communicator who enjoys connecting with people.
- Organized and dependable, with strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable using email, spreadsheets, and basic online forms.
- Interest in environmental stewardship and community building.
- Prior experience coordinating volunteers or managing teams is helpful but not required.
