    Event Support - Music of Friends Concert at The French Embassy

    Volunteer Role Description: Event Support – Music of Friends Benefit Concert

    Event: Music of Friends – Friendship Place Annual Chamber Music Benefit Concert

    Date & Time: Sunday, February 1, 2:00–4:00 PM EST

    Location: The French Embassy, 4101 Reservoir Rd NW, Washington, DC

    Security Requirement: all volunteers must pass a security screening conducted by Embassy staff upon arrival. A government-issued photo ID is required for entry.

    Volunteer Shift:

    • Arrival: Volunteers must arrive no later than 1:00 PM
    • Teardown Support: Volunteers assisting after the event should plan to stay until approximately 5:00 PM

    Overview

    Volunteers for the Music of Friends concert help create a polished and welcoming environment at one of Friendship Place’s most elegant annual events. Set at the French Embassy and featuring acclaimed musicians from the National Symphony Orchestra, Eclipse Chamber Orchestra, and the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, this concert brings together community members for an unforgettable afternoon of world-class chamber music.

    Your support ensures guests feel warmly welcomed, informed, and cared for from arrival to departure.

    Volunteer Roles

    1. Greeters
    • Welcome guests as they arrive.
    • Provide information about seating, amenities, and the event layout.
    • Direct attendees to the registration and name tag area.
    1. Ushers
    • Guide guests to seating before the performance begins.
    • Maintain quiet transitions as the concert begins and during intermission.
    • Assist guests with special seating needs.
    1. Name Tag Assistance
    • Help attendees locate their name tags quickly and easily.
    • Reprint or create name tags as needed (materials provided).
    • Ensure guests feel prepared and included for the event.
    1. Venue Setup
    • Assist with arranging chairs, registration tables, signage, and event materials.
    • Support light décor or layout needs in reception and seating areas.
    • Ensure the front-of-house area looks polished prior to guest arrival.
    1. Venue Teardown
    • Break down chairs, signage, and tables after the event concludes.
    • Assist with packing Friendship Place materials and restoring the venue.
    • Help ensure an efficient and smooth end-of-event wrap-up.

    • Warm and welcoming demeanor
    • Punctual and reliable
    • Comfortable interacting with a large number of guests
    • Able to stand for extended periods (greeters/ushers)
    • Comfortable assisting with light physical tasks (setup/teardown)
