    Description

Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in foster care

CASA volunteers are compassionate, dedicated community members from all backgrounds who believe that every child deserves someone to speak up for them. CASA volunteers are partnered with a child or group of siblings, spend time with the child/children, gather information about his or her needs from the family, caretakers, teachers, doctors, and caseworkers, and make informed recommendations to the family court about the child’s future. The role of a CASA volunteer is simple: to advocate for whatever is in the best interest of the child/children.

Volunteers do not need any specific background, training, or education to become a CASA; all training and resources are provided through 36 hours of pre-service training and ongoing continuing education.

How to Volunteer for This Opportunity

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with CASA of Passaic and Union Counties!

    What is a CASA volunteer?

The first and next step is signing up for a Volunteer Information Session!

How to sign up for an Information Session:

This is a required first step on the path to becoming a powerful voice in a child’s life. At the session, we’ll talk about the role of a Court Appointed Special Advocate, the responsibilities, the requirements, and the training that all CASAs go through before being sworn in by the court — and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you have too!

Information Sessions are a commitment-free opportunity for you to learn more and to see if becoming a CASA is the right fit for you. Sessions typically last 45 minutes to an hour. The Registration link: https://www.casapassaicunion.org/info-session

    Best Regards,

CASA of Passaic and Union Counties
