    Role Description

    OpenGov Africa is seeking two volunteer leaders -- a Marketing Team Lead and a Project Team Lead to support our campaigns, communications, and operational projects. These roles are ideal for individuals who enjoy leadership, strategy, and organization, and who want to apply their skills to meaningful civic impact.

    The Marketing Team Lead will guide marketing strategy, oversee digital campaigns, and coordinate volunteers to strengthen OpenGov Africa’s visibility and messaging. The Project Team Lead will manage timelines, track deliverables, and coordinate teams to ensure projects move efficiently from planning to execution. Together, these roles connect strategy, communication, and implementation, helping the organization operate effectively while expanding its impact.

    Both positions require collaboration with remote teams and active participation in ongoing advocacy and civic engagement initiatives.

    Qualifications

    • Strong interest in governance, transparency, and civic engagement in Africa
    • Leadership ability and confidence coordinating volunteers
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
    • Problem-solving mindset and adaptability
    • Basic understanding of marketing, project coordination, or team management is a plus
    • Willingness to commit 5–10 volunteer hours per week

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and coordinate volunteer teams
    • Plan and oversee campaigns and projects aligned with organizational goals
    • Manage timelines, tasks, and deliverables
    • Ensure consistent messaging and brand alignment (Marketing Lead focus)
    • Support project execution and workflow tracking (Project Lead focus)
    • Facilitate communication across teams
    • Monitor progress and adjust strategies when needed
    • Collaborate with design, research, and communications teams
    • Identify challenges and propose practical solutions
