    Description

    Achieve Tahoe, a non-profit which leads the way in providing adaptive sports and outdoor recreation for people with disabilities and their families, seeks a dynamic individual to join the programming team in a full-time, seasonal position as a Snowsports Intern. This position includes housing, a living stipend and season passes to Palisades, Alpine Meadows and NorthStar resorts. The internship commitment is 40 hours per week, from December 1st through April 30th.

    Founded in 1967, Achieve Tahoe has successfully guided people to a life without limits. Achieve Tahoe remains dedicated to the belief that sports are a vital part of the process in which individuals with disabilities build health, confidence, and independence.     Based at Alpine Meadows at Palisades Tahoe in North Lake Tahoe, CA, Achieve Tahoe serves over 650 individuals annually. A team of committed and experienced professionals leads over 200 active and dedicated volunteers.

    The ideal intern candidate will be able to demonstrate an intermediate skill level in alpine skiing and/or snowboarding; be a self-starter and be able to maintain a positive attitude; have previous experience teaching and leading a subject or activity; be able to follow directions and work independently; be able to successfully manage multiple high priority tasks in a fast-paced environment; have knowledge of various computer software programs such as Microsoft Windows, Word, Outlook and Excel; possess the physical ability and strength to participate in daily activities at high altitude; have the physical ability to assist snowsports participants with adaptive equipment; and be able to work outdoors for long periods of time in all conditions.

    About the Position

    Under the direction of the Intern Program Coordinator, the Intern’s primary duties include:

    • Function as part of the Program Team learning to assess and deliver snowsports instruction for individuals of all ages with various disabilities.
    • Assist with the transportation, maintenance, and set-up of program equipment.
    • Assist with special events.
    • Assist with facilities and administrative tasks as assigned.
    • Develop and complete an intern project.
    • Attend orientation and training.
    • Attend clinics both on-hill and indoors.
    • Prepare for and participate in PSIA Level 1 in-house training program in preparation for PSIA Level 1 Alpine and Adaptive ski exams/ or snowboard equivalent.

    Requirements for Interns include high school graduate or equivalent; a college degree
