    Description

    Trailhead Steward

    Summary of Position

    Support the Jeffco Parks & Open Space (JCPOS) Park Services Team by providing clean, safe, and well-maintained parks and amenities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: managing general cleanliness, appearance, and safety standards; maintenance and upkeep of all park amenities (restrooms, campgrounds, kiosks, picnic areas, benches and signs), maintenance of parking lot and entry roads; and provide exceptional customer service by being knowledgeable and helpful to park visitors.

    Duties

    Represent JCPOS by being a visible and approachable presence in the parks

    Support JCPOS Park Services Team with janitorial services at restrooms

    Inspect park grounds concentrating on trailhead area for vandalism, graffiti, and litter

    Report safety or maintenance issues to JCPOS Park Services Leadership Team

    May assist with clearing snow and ice on paths

    Requirements

    Available to work on a regular basis independently, unsupervised, and in a public setting

    Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on varied terrain

    Successfully complete Trailhead Steward training

    Purchase and wear JCPOS Volunteer Trailhead Steward uniform shirt while on duty and to Trailhead Steward trainings and meetings

    Abide by JCPOS Park Regulations and established volunteer policies and procedures outlined in the JCPOS Volunteer Handbook

    3. Attend an Interview
      1. All prospective volunteers will be interviewed. Once you submit your application, you will be contacted to arrange for your interview.
    4. Attend a New Volunteer Orientation
      1. All new volunteers are required to attend New Volunteer Orientation at JCPOS Headquarters to become familiar with the entire JCPOS system prior to specific program training. You must pre-register for orientation on Offero. Registration links are provided upon receipt of your application.
    5. Attend Program Specific Training
      1. Trailhead Steward training will be arranged by your Program Coordinator. CPR/First Aid training will be provided. Continuing education and training opportunities will be provided as they become available.
    6. Get your uniform and start volunteering!
