Helping to maintain people's independence is the cornerstone philosophy of Meals on Wheels. Since 1974, we have been providing hot, nutritious meals to the homebound elderly and disabled persons in Duval County. Meals on Wheels volunteers pick up meals from one of 12 designated drop sites in Duval County and deliver them on the same route at least once a month (ideally, once a week). Meals on Wheels delivery drivers will be responsible to their drop site volunteer coordinator. This is a committed volunteer opportunity and not just an episodic volunteer position. A volunteer route typically covers less than 10 miles and can be completed within 60 minutes. Volunteers must provide their own transportation. The major function of this volunteer role is to deliver meals in a safe and timely manner with exceptional care, while providing the highest level of customer service.
We have an urgent need for meal delivery driver volunteers in the Wesconnett, Arlington, Mandarin, and Baymeadows areas.
